Sunderland have been connected with a double transfer deal, with the Premier League and EFL winter transfer windows being open.
First and foremost, numerous clubs are thought to be keeping an eye on Aldershot Town midfielder Joshua Stokes ahead of a possible January transfer window move. The midfielder has scored 15 goals since joining the club from Sudbury in the summer, and his team currently sits 10th in the National League.
According to reports, the 19-year-old has being tracked by Championship clubs Norwich City, Ipswich Town, and Sunderland, as well as League One clubs Derby County, Charlton Athletic, and AFC Wimbledon. Sunderland have also been connected with ex-Millwall loanee defender Charlie Cresswell, who has struggled for game time under Whites coach Daniel Farke.
Cresswell is regarded to be a player who might move Elland Road during the winter window, with former loan club Millwall and league rivals Middlesbrough both interested.
Under Farke, the 21-year-old centre-back’s opportunities have been few and far between, with the England youth international making only four Championship outings this season. Middlesbrough, on the other hand, have recently done loan business with Leeds after signing Black Cats fan Sam Greenwood under the Black Cats’ noses last summer.
Cresswell is thought to be open to leaving Elland Road, with Ipswich Town, Southampton, and Rangers all said to be interested in signing the highly-rated England under-21 international during the January transfer window, which opened on January 1st.
