What Do New Signings Have To Say?

It was like busses at the New York Stadium – none all day, then three nearly simultaneously – last night, with three loan signings revealed late – very late – on the final day of the transfer market.

First through the door was Cardiff City’s Andy Rinomhota, who told the Millers X Account that he hopes to have a ‘good influence’ while he’s here. ‘I knew Rotherham were interested from the last window,’ the midfielder stated, ‘and I chatted with the Gaffer, who went over his ideas and how he saw me fitting into them.’

When asked about his playing style, Andy described himself as “robust, energetic, dynamic, who likes to get a tackle in,” and that he considers himself a box-to-box midfielder. Hopefully, I can include that into the team. I’ve lately started a few games, so I believe I’m match-fit.

‘I trained with Cardiff this morning (yesterday) and then drove right up here, which was quite a haul, but it will be well worth it. I’m excited to get started right away, get as much game time as possible, and contribute to the team.

On Andy’s heels, the Millers confirmed the signing of Femi Seriki from Sheffield United.

When asked how the signing came about, the teenage defender stated, ‘I played in the Palace game a few of nights ago, not coming back until four or five a.m., woke up today, and although it was a lengthy process, we got it done.’

The twenty-year-old inked a new agreement with the Blades before joining the Millers on loan, and he believes the Championship is a’really strong place’ for him to be, citing Rotherham Head Coach Leam Richardson as a major factor in his decision to come to the New York Stadium.

‘Speaking with the Manager is always excellent,’ Femi added, ‘but listening to him and the way he spoke to me was all great, and I couldn’t wait to close the deal, and I’m eager to be playing against elite players. This is the next stage of my evolution.

So, what will he offer to the Millers? ‘I’m quick, direct, and like to put crosses in the box. I like to attack, I like to defend.’

Finally, Charlie Wyke of Wigan Athletic arrived and expressed his excitement at being here.

‘It has been a crazy day. Training in Wigan this morning, driving down the motorway, sitting about for a few hours trying to get this thing completed, but happily it’s done.

‘I know the management and the club very well since I’ve played against them numerous times over the last few years, and I’ve come here to help keep the club going.

‘Leam (Richardson) signed me when I left Sunderland, and he’s a terrific guy to work with. I’m looking forward to starting training tomorrow and maybe getting a win on Saturday.’

What kind of player is Charlie? ‘I’m someone who gives his all in every game for my club. And after everything I’ve been through with this boss, I want to do well for him. Hopefully, I can get on the end of crosses, score a few goals for the team, and help them stay in this tier.’

All are really positive and appear to want to be here. I, for one, cannot wait to see them in action.
