The Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers may soon engage in a bidding battle for 6-time All-Star in buyout market
With the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers unlikely to make significant moves before the NBA trade deadline on February 8, both teams may end up competing for the best player available following a contract buyout.
The Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers are in vastly different situations going into the trade deadline, but both want to improve their rosters. However, given the league’s varying asking prices and each team’s demands, all indicators lean to both famous clubs standing pat before Wednesday at 3 p.m. ET.

Veteran NBA analyst Marc Stein stated on Sunday on his Substack page that the Charlotte Hornets may attempt to trade six-time All-Star Kyle Lowry, whom they acquired in the trade that sent Terry Rozier to the Miami Heat. While conversations are underway, a trade is far from guaranteed. If he is not moved, the 18-year veteran may potentially enter the free market ahead of the NBA playoffs.
“Lowry is predicted to have strong interest in the buyout market if no trade materializes and he decides to pursue a settlement of what’s left of
“Lowry is projected to have considerable interest on the buyout market if no trade materializes and should he decide to seek a settlement of what’s left of his $29.7 million expiring contract from Charlotte to become a free agent,” Stein stated in an email.
