Rotherham United’s Star Makes Shock Saudi Arabia Move Following Defeat Against Southampton
Ex-Rotherham United, Bristol City, and Charlton Athletic player makes unexpected Saudi Arabia move.
Dean Holden, a former Rotherham United defender, has joined Saudi Arabian team Al-Ettifaq as Steven Gerrard’s new assistant.
The 44-year-old had been out of job since August, when he was fired from his position as Charlton Athletic head coach. He has now relocated to the Middle East to aid Gerrard as the Liverpool great attempts to turn around Al-Ettifaq’s fortunes.
Gerrard took over as manager of Al-Ettifaq in July, almost nine months after leaving Aston Villa. However, he has struggled to get the team going, having just lost midfielder Jordan Henderson to Ajax.
Holden will bring extensive managerial experience to the club, having previously guided Charlton, Bristol City, and Oldham Athletic. He has also worked as an assistant on several times, his most recent stint as a number two coming at Stoke City.
