Rotherham United looking to reunite with creative player who is now at Sheffield Wednesday.

Rotherham United are looking to re-sign Will Vaulks from Sheffield Wednesday before the transfer window expires.
Vaulks formerly played for Rotherham United from 2016 until 2019, helping the team achieve promotion to the Championship.
The 30-year-old’s contract at Hillsborough expires at the end of this season, although it is unclear if any deal will be permanent or on loan.
Rotherham United are interested in re-signing Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Will Vaulks.

The Rotherham Advertiser reports that the Millers are looking to enhance their team on the last day of the January transfer window.

Vaulks is a regular figure at Rotherham.
Of course, if Vaulks does make this transfer, it will not be the first time he has worn a Rotherham shirt.

The midfielder previously spent three years with the club, from 2016 to 2019, making 137 appearances across all competitions.

Vaulks scored 17 goals and assisted 14 others during that period, helping the team achieve promotion from League One to the Championship in 2018.

After leaving Rotherham for Cardiff in 2019, Vaulks joined Sheffield Wednesday in the summer of 2022, where he helped the club return to the Championship last season.

However, it appears like the 30-year-old may be on the move again on deadline day.

Rotherham wants to bring Vaulks back from Sheffield Wednesday.
According to the most recent update, Rotherham are now interested in re-signing Vaulks beginning Wednesday before the transfer window shuts.

The Millers have yet to make a first-team signing during the current transfer window, but they are eager to do so before the market closes at 11:00pm on Thursday.

It is unclear whether Rotherham are hoping to sign Vaulks permanently or on loan.

As things stand, the midfielder’s current contract with Hillsborough will expire at the conclusion of the season.

That means Sheffield Wednesday may have one last chance to get a fee for the 30-year-old on deadline day.

Both Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday are in a Championship relegation fight.
Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday are now in a dangerous situation as they seek to escape relegation to League One this season.

The Millers are now at the bottom of the second-tier rankings, nine points from safety, having scored only 19 points in 28 league games this season.

Wednesday, meanwhile, are one place higher than Rotherham in 23rd, four points ahead of their local rivals.

This weekend, Rotherham welcome Southampton at The New York Stadium, while Sheffield Wednesday travel to the John Smith’s Stadium to play another relegation-threatened Yorkshire team, Huddersfield Town.

Allowing Vaulks to go to Rotherham would be risky for Sheffield Wednesday.
It is difficult not to believe that Sheffield Wednesday would be taking a risk by approving the deal before the window shuts.

Obviously, losing a player like Vaulks for free at the conclusion of the season would be a disappointment, considering the valuable contributions he can provide to the team.
