The ‘truth’ of Joleon Lescott’s controversial 2016 vehicle tweet has been made public by Micah Richards.
Lescott, the defender for Aston Villa, angered supporters by posting a picture of a £121,000 Mercedes without any explanation or background after his team defeated Liverpool 6-0.
He then faced ridicule for claiming that the photo was inadvertently tweeted from his pocket on his phone, an account he continues to tell.
Lescott has never wavered from his position, even after apologizing to supporters for Villa’s “lack of commitment” after the home defeat that left the team bottom of the league.
In the month of the tweet’s anniversary, Richards, his former teammate, has sprung to his defense.
He said on the podcast The Rest is Football: “We play Liverpool, and we get hammered 6-0.” I believe that roughly three of the goals were my fault.
“I was in the car when Joleon sent that tweet,” I said. The fact is, he is speaking the truth.
“He sent it out of his pocket without realizing it, according to his absurd description.
However, if you go back to when Twitter was first introduced, the final photo in your photographs would have been seen if you clicked a button on the platform.
“It must have been prepared for sending, but he put it in his pocket and unintentionally tweeted it.”
“Joleon used to own a car company and provide us with cars at competitive prices, such as lease deals.”
The photo showed a top-of-the-line S63 Coupe that was singing and dancing. It was put out to the boys. That is the image that was removed.
Lescott played the entire ninety minutes at Villa Park, where the home team’s terrible season hit a new low, and the crowd stormed out early.
