Before moving on to the summer transfer window, Celtic’s resolve over Matt O’Riley is expected to be put to the test once more.

On the day of their transfer deadline, Galatasaray is reportedly seeking the Denmark international, according to reports in Turkey.

Several teams in Europe expressed a great deal of interest in the 23-year-old in January.

The Scottish champions turned down a proposal from Atletico Madrid, while Girona, another contender in La Liga, remained interested throughout the window.

For Brendan Rodgers’ team this season, O’Riley has been in outstanding form, tallying ten goals and dishing out twelve assists thus far.

With the playmaker’s contract expiring in the summer of 2027, Celtic wants to hang onto the former MK Dons star for as long as possible.

Galatasaray, on the other hand, may make a proposal before their deadline of midnight on Friday, February 9, since the Turkish giants are willing to spend the cash after Bayern Munich paid £30 million for Sacha Boey.

O’Riley has reportedly been placed to the team’s wishlist for transfers, according to media site Haber Mayden.

Before the transfer market closes later today, manager Okan Buruk is eager to bring in a midfield player.

According to the source, the Istanbul team is ‘anticipated’ to try to recruit the Celtic star, but they are aware that a ‘large amount’ will need to be paid in order to do so.

As Rodgers has already said, O’Riley is not going anywhere for the time being. And it’s especially relevant given that Celtic wouldn’t be able to find a replacement for their star player if he left today.

Concurrently, David Turnbull has hinted that ‘other reasons’ caused his departure from Celtic.

The 24-year-old Scotland midfielder left Glasgow on the last day of the transfer window to join Cardiff City, where he is hoping for better things.

With only six months left on his Parkhead contract, the former star of the Motherwell youth signed a £2 million agreement to join the Championship team.
