In her 21-word assessment of Newcastle United’s victory over Nottingham Forest, Amanda Staveley calls it “amazing.”
Amanda Staveley, a co-owner of Newcastle United, gives her assessment of the team’s 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest.
After Newcastle United’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, Amanda Staveley expressed her pride in the team.
After a thrilling 4–4 draw against relegation-threatened Luton Town at St. James’ Park the previous week, the Magpies made a quick turnaround and were back on the winning track.
Bruno Guimaraes, a Brazilian midfielder, opened the score in the tenth minute and then found the winner halfway through the second half. After Fabian Schar’s goal was missed by Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi, the score was tied at the half.
“Amazing performance today,” Staveley wrote on Instagram in response to the outcome. As always, I’m really pleased of this crew. They keep coming, and they win three points today 🖤🤍 #howaythelads.”
For Eddie Howe as much as for Staveley, the outcome was extremely significant. The United head coach gave an unusual fist pump at full time to show his emotions in front of the departing fans.
“That was because they haven’t had many positive moments away from home, not as many as we would have liked,” stated Howe. It was a significant victory for us tonight, and hopefully we can look forward to next week at home because we appreciate and respect their support.
For everyone of us, it is everything. We sacrifice a lot to be ready for games, and our fans sacrifice a lot to come see us play. We haven’t always given them the reward we wanted to this season, but when we do, it’s good to rejoice.”
On Saturday afternoon, Howe will host Bournemouth, their previous team, at St James’ Park (3pm kickoff).
