Georgia Football gets another player via the Transfer Portal. The Dawgs landed Benjamin Yurosek on Friday. Yurosek played at Stanford for four years and was considered one of the better tight ends not only in the Pac-12 but one of the best tight ends in the country. Yurosek put up good numbers while playing at Stanford. He caught 108 balls for 1,342 yards while starting the past three years
. Yurosek was the leading receiver in 2021 for the Cardinals with 658 receiving yards. Yurosek only played six games in 2023, catching 16 passes for 239 yards. He was out for half of the season because of a shoulder injury. The injury should not impact him at all going into the 2024 season.
Given that Yurosek is a native of Bakersfield, California, parallels to Brock Bowers are not out of the question. Even at Stanford, Yurosek has carried the ball just as much as Bowers has for the Dawgs during the previous three seasons. Yurosek gained 53 yards on 11 carries.
Even before Yurosek made the decision to travel to Athens, the Dawg’s tight end room was full with talented players. Oscar Delp, a rising junior with the Dawgs, relieved Bowers while he was hurt. Delp appears to have an even better 2024 after having 24 catches for 284 yards and three touchdowns in 2023.
At the tight end position, the Dawgs also have Jaden Reddell, Colton Heinrich, Pearce Spurlin III, and Lawson Luckie.
Seeing what the Dawgs’ offense can accomplish with so much quality at one position will be intriguing.
The Dawgs added players to their offensive line after the Transfer Portal debuted in December. Kirby Smart has added offensive weapons like Landon Humphries, Michael Jackson III, Trevor Etienne, and Colbie Young to offer Carson Beck even more options.
2024 will witness a fantastic Georgia offensive, and Yurosek’s addition will further increase the dynamic nature of the Dawgs’ offense! Thus, I penned the title, Kirk Herbstreit: Georgia Football’s New Enemy, last week. Look, when I stated anything on that blog, I meant it. However, I am able to alter my mind on many issues.
Let’s start with Kirk Herbstreit’s Paul Finebaum Show appearance. Kirk then goes on there to make amends and cleanse his name of any transgression. That was beyond the rational anger of any human being. Because we live in America, you have the right to defend your reputation if you are ever accused of wrongdoing! Although Kirk was present for a considerable amount of time, his appearance may be summarized as follows:
That quote left me thinking of two things. First of all, someone is lying. Secondly, Kirk still ought not to have been there. Let’s start with the first observation I made. Raiola’s father made the remark inadvertently.
After stating what he said, he went on without giving name-dropping Kirk Herbstreit any thought. What Dominic Raiola asserted in the interview is flatly refuted by Kirk. It looks like someone is lying or fabricating what transpired during the phone call.
This brings me to my next idea, but I doubt we will ever know the whole truth about what transpired during that phone call. Herbie ought to have kept quiet! How did he end up there in the first place? What a ridiculous defense from Herbstreit to declare, “What should I say, Matt Rhule is a bad guy, a bad coach”! No, Herbie, you ought to have kept quiet! There’s no way you should be involved in recruitment!
However, you already knew what Kirk would say if you had read my earlier piece on the subject. I almost memorized it word by word! However, it is to be expected from a graduate of Ohio State.
Last but not least, a number of talking heads advise against taking this news seriously. They are promoting the myth that Georgia supporters bemoan the lack of a five-star rating. speaking heads similar to Josh Pate
Having said all of that, he is entirely incorrect in this assessment. Whatever his me-maw said, I don’t care. My grandmother constantly advised me to focus just on “Them Dawgs” and nothing else. Her counsel is applicable in this instance as well as, to be honest, in most others. There is an issue with what Herbstreit did or did not do.
Nothing will come of this other than the hatred that Georgia fans have for Kirk Herbstreit and College Gameday.
All I can hope for is that Herbie learns to keep his nose out of recruiting affairs, particularly in the SEC. He ought to have realized better than to interfere with someone who was being courted by an SEC powerhouse. Fans of Georgia basketball keep a tight eye on recruiting, so I was surprised it took so long for the story to surface
There have been villains among Georgia football fans. Among them are Erik Ainge, Gary Danielson, Sheldon Richardson, and Tim Tebow. However, we now have a new person who, while some of us were certain he was an adversary, we did not fully understand. Kirk Herbstreit is that person.
Coner Riley of Dawgnation revealed that Herbie instructed Raiola to change his commitment from Georgia to Nebraska, in case you were unaware. This is what Raiola’s father had to say:”He called me as soon as he noticed the smoke about Dylan entertaining Nebraska,” Dominic Raiola stated. “Hey, Is this accurate? It was up to Dylan to do it. He had to do the task. His [Herbstreit] fondness for Nebraska, that kind of man, to come to me and support me. I realized he had to take action. However, I wasn’t going to stand here and tell you to go alter that location or contribute to its change.”
Look, it doesn’t bother me that Raiola attended Nebraska rather than Georgia. He has the freedom to live his life as he pleases. Bravo for him, congrats, and all that jazz. Alright. I cleared the pleasantries out of the way.
I have an issue with Herbie.
First of all, Kirk should be an analyst, not the college football league’s supreme arbiter. During a game, he is expected to see and process what has happened or will happen. Herbie does that during the ESPN Primetime game and College Gameday. Should a high school recruit have an analyst whispering in his ear? Is there not an interest conflict there? See, if a journalist did that, they would not only face public criticism (which is justified), but they would also lose their job! Why is Herbie exempt from the rules?
If this doesn’t worry you, I’m not sure what else to say.
I can confirm that my wood is dry and my fire is started. As I write this, I’m becoming red in the face! An analyst, broadcaster, or whomever Kirk Herbstreit is supposed to be calling himself should never influence a recruit’s choice.
Herbie has to worry about the declining ratings on College Gameday and avoid looking at prospective landing locations for recruits. Alternatively, give up pretending to be Pat McAffee, the king of drips, and strive to bring back the glory days of College Gameday! Oh wait, they let go of David Pollack, one of the key players, in order to give McAfee a big salary and allow him to inject some WWE culture into college football. Regards, ESPN!
However, I’m not at all shocked that Herbie took this action. It was the 1993 Citrus Bowl that made him despise Georgia. That was the game in which the Buckeyes, starting quarterback Kirk, lost them the game late. Will Muschamp made a lighthearted fun at Herbie regarding that game during the Peach Bowl media day session, and Kirk appeared offended and saddened by Muschamp’s remarks. But then again, someone who was born on third base would expect that kind of answer. His dad was and still is an Ohio State icon, which is the sole reason he was on that squad.
Additionally, this person consistently selects against Georgia and has not predicted Georgia to win the SEC or the national championship in the previous three years. Then utters statements like, “I believe Alabama and LSU will lose this year.” Alright, Kirk!
This should infuriate Butts-Mehre’s staff as well as every fan of Georgia. Herbstreit stepped beyond a line that ought never to be crossed.
I have no idea why he ever took such action! His justification will probably go something like this: “Well, look, Georgia is among the top college football programs.”
Kirby Smart has accomplished amazing things at Georgia. Take a peek at their athletes in comparison to all others! In addition, they have a strong group of guys in their quarterback room and Beck back. You can’t have a college football game without Nebraska, and I thought it was a very fantastic narrative! So, to the supporters of Georgia, calm down. Come on, you have one of the strongest programs and you’ll probably win another championship soon! Nebraska probably needed him more. (Read this aloud in Kirk’s voice; it sounds just like everything he says.)
Fans of Georgia, meet our new foe. I believe that all of the Georgia supporters in attendance should jeer Herbie anytime he plays during a Gameday game the following time.
For his transgressions against the Dawgs, Kirk Herbstreit must make amends! One of college football’s strongest voices is Georgia’s new adversary.
To round up the blog, here’s one last insult: Herbstreit, quit shoving your ugly dog down our throats! We have our own dog at home, so sometimes we’d rather watch football than yours. Thank you! In addition, I spoke with UGA and had nothing good to say about Ben.
Regardless of the outcome of Super Bowl 58, Georgia supporters would have been able to rejoice since former Bulldogs were on the teams of both the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. However, a Dawg must bark a lot in order to be a part of the winning play.
The game-winning touchdown throw from Patrick Mahomes to former Georgia wide receiver Mecole Hardman sealed the victory for the Chiefs, who had won three Super Bowls in the previous five years—two of them against the 49ers.The game-winning touchdown throw from Patrick Mahomes to former Georgia wide receiver Mecole Hardman sealed the victory for the Chiefs, who had won three Super Bowls in the previous five years—two of them against the 49ers.
