Scott Booker has been signed by the Buffalo Bills to serve as the team’s nickel coach and senior defensive assistant, the organization announced on Wednesday, February 14. Booker joins the Bills after spending six seasons (2018–2023) with the Tennessee Titans, the last four of which he served as the defense’s safeties coach.

According to the official press release from the Buffalo Bills announcing Scott Booker’s hiring as head coach:

Throughout his six seasons at Tennessee, Booker contributed to coach safety Kevin Byard’s 20 interceptions and 46 passes defensed. In addition, Byard was named to the Pro Bowl and first team All-Pro for the 2021 campaign.

coach in various roles before joining the Titans in 2018 as a defensive assistant. After serving as a graduate assistant for Kent State’s football team from 2003 to 2004, Booker was promoted to defensive backs coach for the Golden Flashes from 2005 to 2008. Booker joined Western Kentucky in 2009 as the Hilltoppers’ backup coach.

After that, Scott Booker remained involved with the Notre Dame football team for the following seven years. Booker interned at Notre Dame as an offensive coordinator from 2010 to 2011. Booker was then appointed special teams coordinator and tight ends coach (2012-2016). In 2017, Booker moved to Nebraska to join the Cornhuskers as a special teams coordinator and safeties coach.

As a former college football defensive back, Booker played under then head coach Dean Pees at Kent State. Booker was a four-year letter winner with the Golden Flashes (1999-2002), and in 2001 he was named to the MAC all-academic team. A Native of Pittsburgh, PA, Scott Booker earned his bachelor’s in business administration in 2003, and his master’s in sports studies in 2006 (both from Kent State).
