Oscar Gloukh of Red Bull Salzburg is a target for Aston Villa ahead of the summer transfer season, sources have told Football Insider.
The giants of the Midlands are among the teams keeping a close eye on the 19-year-old because of his stellar recent play.
After doing a lot of scouting, it’s thought Villa is eager to make a move for the offensive midfielder later this year.
Gloukh is being considered by Aston Villa, according to Football Insider’s December report. Unai Emery’s recruiting team views Gloukh as a player with “top potential.”
The adolescent is one of Europe’s most highly-regarded prospects and is considered a top young player.
Gloukh joined Salzburg only the previous year (2023), but he has already established himself as one of the league’s best players in the Austrian Bundesliga. This season, he has made 28 appearances in all competitions, with six goals and seven assists.
As Salzburg was eliminated in December, the midfield wonder shone in the Champions League, netting two goals and dishing out one assist in six group matches.
Gloukh, who can also play on the left, is generally used as an offensive midfielder and has a contract with Austria that runs until June 2027.
After making an impression with Israel’s Under-21 team at the 2023 European Championship, he has already scored three goals in 12 appearances with the senior team.
During the playoffs in March, the 19-year-old might help his country earn a spot in the senior European Championships.
Although Aston Villa signed former Manchester City forward Morgan Rogers in January, they are still interested in signing Gloukh.
After 25 games, the massive Midlands team is ranked fourth in the Premier League standings.
