Liam Moore, a former captain of Reading FC, has signed a short-term contract with League One Northampton Town that runs through the conclusion of the current campaign.

Moore played for the Royals for seven seasons before being released as a free agency at the end of the 2022–2023 season. During his last few years with the team, Moore dealt with a number of injuries.

Moore had an incredible first season at Reading, established himself as a key player, and was named club captain at the commencement of the 2019–20 season.

But in January 2022, after declaring his intention to seek a move away from the team, he lost his position as captain and signed a loan to Stoke City.

His loan transfer was terminated due to a significant injury he sustained. Then, as injuries continued to bother him, he only made three appearances in his last season with Reading. The 31-year-old center defender presently plays for League One’s 11th-place Northampton.
“We’re happy to have him join the team. He has played a lot of football in the Premier League or the Championship.”
