In the summer of 2023, Aston Villa sold Jaden Philogene to Hull City; however, the Villans are apparently eager to have him return to Villa Park, and they have a buy-back provision in his contract to make this possible.
Unfortunately, it’s not that easy. The buy-back clause will only be activated in the event that Hull is promoted to the Premier League. In addition, Villa will be required to meet any bid that surpasses the buy-back clause from another club.
Tan Kesler, vice-chairman of Hull, commented on the Philogene contract provision, saying, “I can tell you with certainty that he is a Hull City player, not their player.
I’ve been transparent from the start, and you should be aware that Villa has consented to a buyback if and when we are promoted to the Premier League. They still need to concur with the player and, more crucially, they need to match any further offers we receive [from other teams].”I believe that Villa would have to pay a big price to get him back when the time comes, but because they are friends, I won’t mention anything inappropriate in this post.
I want to emphasize that if there are no other offers, they have the right, at any point during Jaden’s contract, to purchase him back for a certain sum if we [are] promoted. Thus, offers will be made.”
Villa must contend with Tottenham Hotspur if they are serious in re-signing Philogene, per a TEAMtalk report. Spurs are also thought to be ‘leading’ the pack, in addition.
It’s still unknown where Philogene would like to end up at this point. Financially, Villa can match the Lilywhites; hence, the 22-year-old has the upper hand.
