One of the Baltimore Ravens’ well-known wide receivers is about to leave the team in free agency, but if recent claims are to be believed, they may be able to get a replacement from the NFC South.
The Baltimore Ravens “likely won’t re-sign” Odell Beckham Jr., according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, who also mentioned that Michael Thomas may be the team’s replacement given that he is also scheduled to reach free agency after being released by the New Orleans Saints the following week.
Given that the Baltimore Ravens prize seasoned players at the wide receiver position, a number of scouts think that acquiring Thomas is a wise decision. Given that they recently signed 30-year-old Nelson Agholor to a one-year contract deal, it appears that this is the case.
Given that he’s far from back to his peak, Michael Thomas seems like a strange match for the Baltimore Ravens. The three-time Pro Bowler’s luck has not improved following a stellar season in 2019, when he set league records with 149 catches and 1,725 receiving yards, including nine touchdowns.
Following his absence from the 2021 season, Thomas participated in seven games in 2020, three games in 2022, and ten games in the previous season. He had 39 catches for 448 receiving yards and just one touchdown in 2023, which prompted him to launch a bitter diatribe against Derek Carr, his quarterback.
If Michael Thomas signs with the Baltimore Ravens this summer, his contract will be inexpensive. Furthermore, Lamar Jackson will no longer be expected to lead the offense because his primary receivers are Mark Andrews and Zay Flowers.
In light of losing out on Mike Evans, Odell Beckham Jr. has been connected to a potential reunion with the Los Angeles Rams.
The Baltimore Ravens may consider wide receivers Darnell Mooney and Calvin Ridley in addition to Michael Thomas in the open market. They don’t have enough cap room, though, to pay their high wages.
The Baltimore Ravens need to address their major needs, which include linebackers, offensive linemen, and a top-tier running back like Derrick Henry.
