The New Orleans Saints are scheduled to release Michael Thomas soon, and as he leaves the organization, he has made the decision to insult a writer covering the team.

The Times-Picayune’s Jeff Duncan revealed on Thursday that the Saints have made the decision to cut ties with Thomas. Duncan also summarized Thomas’s decline from maybe the NFL’s finest wide receiver to a disgruntled individual.
The writer detailed how Thomas’s life “unraveled” following his suspension in 2020 for fighting with a teammate and his significant fallout with the Saints the following offseason over how they handled his ankle injury.

Thomas has “developed a reputation at the Saints facility as a moody and at times difficult personality,” according to Duncan’s writing.

Michael Thomas goes off on Jeff Duncan after reporting release

Thomas unleashed his frustrations on Duncan on social media shortly after the report published on Thursday. Thomas also charged the Saints with information leaks intended to diminish player worth.

“Duncan Jeff is a he.” In an attempt to remain current, let’s talk about it. The Saints want to destroy players’ worth by leaking information to him, but I’m not broke, so I can talk about it. He needs clicks since he is broke. Visit all of his articles that turn out not to be real,” Thomas wrote on X, which LBS censored because to its strong language.

Thomas didn’t end there. The three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver persisted in getting personal with Duncan and had a hissy fit at X.
Thomas mentioned that he had changed the terms of his deal with the Saints during the previous summer. Given that he has an agreement that would guarantee him more than $30 million and would kick in later this month, there was never much of a possibility that he would stay with the team in 2024. He will, however, technically be chopped.
According to Duncan, Thomas’s last season in New Orleans was the tipping point for him. The Saints were “irked” by an incident in which Thomas was detained following a fight with construction workers outside his home.

In other words, Thomas wants us to think that the Saints made up all of the information about him and gave it to Duncan. When he becomes a free agent, it will be intriguing to see if he is able to persuade other clubs of that.
