The young player left the Tigers’ academy over the weekend and began a new career elsewhere.
After joining Hull City in the summer of 2022 from Oldham Athletic, striker Jim Simms’ tenure at the MKM Stadium was cut short as his contract was mutually terminated.
Since then, the 20-year-old striker has joined Wythenshawe Town FC, where he made his debut on Saturday in the North West Counties League Premier Division against Barnoldswick Town, teaming up with former City forward George Boyd in a 3-1 victory.
Simms had been a frequent member of Liam Rosenior’s first squad during training sessions, but he never played for the Tigers. Simms also had many loan stints, although he has since moved on.
Jim, a forward, is confirmed by Hull City.
The Tigers said in a statement, “Simms’ contract has been canceled by mutual consent to pursue a new opportunity elsewhere. “After a successful trial, the Manchester-born striker joined the team in August 2022 from Oldham Athletic. He made his Under-21s debut at the MKM Stadium, defeating Watford 5-0, and scored a hat-trick.
Together with being an unutilized substitute for the first team in their mid-season friendlies in Türkiye against Trabzonspor and İstanbul Başakşehir F.K., he played a significant part in helping the Tigers advance to the national play-offs in the Professional Development League for just the second time in the club’s history. Throughout his Tigers career, the 20-year-old made 35 appearances overall while on loan at Buxton, Darlington, and Ashton United.
