As they prepare to play Bridgwater on Sunday, Richard Wood feels his squad has been “pretty ruthless” in their previous games against Portishead and Billericay.

After a brief hiatus from competitive football, Swindon Town Women are back in league play. Town will be looking to build on their recent winning run this weekend.

The Town team played a friendly against Billericay in order to be ready for this weekend’s game. According to manager Richard Wood, the friendly was beneficial for match fitness and maintaining everyone’s sharpness, but it also presented challenges due to their peculiar structure and intensity.

Wood went on to discuss recent addition Hattie Jones following his appearance against Billericay to gain some experience in this Swindon Town Women’s side, he said: “I expect Hattie to make her full competitive debut at some point on Sunday which will be great.”

Town Women’s boss went on to say: “She is somebody that has been out on concussion protocol so she needs to build up her

 

She is totally up to date, and since she has been here from the beginning, she has adapted into the team, so that is a plus.

Considering the competition for this weekend, Bridgwater is a team that is presently 10 points behind Town Women in 7th place and has only won one game in the first half of the season.

To close the 2023–24 season on a high note, Swindon, who has won three of their previous five league games, will be hoping to pick up another victory this weekend.
