A man has been sentenced for more than a year for performing a sex act in front of staff and the public at Ayrshire’s major hospital.

Lee Robert William Nicol, 29, a prisoner at HMP Kilmarnock, will be on the sex offenders register until 2034 after pleading guilty to a single charge stemming from an incident at Crosshouse Hospital on November 14, last year.

Nicol acknowledged to purposefully exposing himself to medical personnel and others in the hospital before engaging in a sex act.

Speaking before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, the procurator fiscal depute stated that about 2:30pm, hospital workers were informed that Nicol was being carried in by paramedics.

He was confined in a secure area within the A&E department. But following

 

During his medical checkup, he exposed himself to staff and members of the public in the waiting room and was accused of masturbating on many occasions.

When he was informed that police had been summoned, he came to a halt and was apprehended when officers arrived.

Nicol’s lawyer stated that her client had been released from jail three weeks before the event and was residing in a temporary residence.

She said Nicol had used street Valium, which led to his behavior. She also informed Sheriff Murdo Mactaggart that her client may benefit from drug-treatment services.

Sheriff Mactaggart informed Nicol that only a jail sentence was suitable.

He was sentenced to 13 months in jail and placed on the list of sex offenders.
