EFL confirms amendments that affect QPR, Charlton Athletic, Millwall, and rivals.
This year’s Championship season concludes with QPR, Watford, and Millwall on the road.
The EFL has announced the dates for the Championship, League One, and League Two play-offs. The league has also announced a change in kick-off timings across divisions for the final day of the season, which will affect all London teams, including QPR, Charlton Athletic, and Millwall.
Fellow Championship side Watford and League One outfit Leyton Orient have also had the kick-off time for their season closer changed. All Championship matches on Saturday, May 4 will now begin at 12:30 and all League One fixtures on Saturday, April 27 will kick off at 12:30. The news came via an official EFL statement, which caused some upset from football fans.
QPR are set to travel to Coventry City on the final day of the season as Marti Cifuentes looks to keep his side playing second tier football next season. It’s a similar mission for Neil Harris, who takes Millwall along the M4 to Swansea City to bring the season to a close. Watford are also on the road with a long trip up to Middlesbrough – Hornets fans some of the most affected by an earlier kick-off time.
A QPR statement read: “QPR’s final-day Sky Bet Championship encounter against Coventry City will now start at 12.30pm BST, in line with the rest of the division. The fixture date stays unaltered.
Martà Cifuentes’ R’s will play at CBS Arena on Saturday, May 4, 2024. The game was scheduled to start at 3 p.m. Ticket information will be available in due course.
