Breaking: ‘In my plans’ – Bradford City boss updates on 22-year-old’s young star position

Bradford City manager Graham Alexander has stated that Jake Young will not be available until next season.
In January, Bradford City recalled the striker from his loan at League Two club Salford City.

Young, 22, is anticipated to remain out of play until the summer, but his return will be like a fresh signing for the Bantams.

According to the Telegraph & Argus, Alexander has supplied the following update: “I see him in my plans like that.” We brought him back after a three-week absence due to an injury.

“He joined the team, and we were enthused about his potential. The entire goal of January was to increase our weaponry. We brought back Jake Young, Tyreik Wright, who has scored a few goals, and Calum Kavanagh, who has also scored a few goals.

“We attempted to ameliorate the situation, but we lost Tyreik for another month and then Jake again. But when he’s ready for pre-season, it’ll be like having a new player because I’ve only spent so little time working with him.”

He was productive at Swindon throughout the first half of the season, scoring 16 goals across all competitions. If he can regain that kind of form with the Bantams, they may have a valuable asset on their hands.

The Yorkshire club signed him back in 2022, but he has struggled to make an impression at Valley Parade thus far, which is why he was loaned out to Barrow before joining the Robins.

Young played for Guiseley in non-league before joining Sheffield United as a teenager in 2019.

He subsequently spent a year at Bramall Lane before joining Forest Green Rovers, where he scored 12 goals in 62 appearances.

His current injury is a setback, and Bradford could do with him up front right now given their terrible form.

Alexander’s men have lost their last four games in a row, conceding 13 goals and scored only once.

Their prospects of making the playoffs are decreasing quickly, and their season is winding down.

They are nine points behind the top seven with seven games still to play. Next up is a home game against Tranmere Rovers on Friday, followed by a trip to Grimsby Town on Monday.
