Former Saints guard Calvin Throckmorton is signed by the Broncos
Calvin Throckmorton, a former guard for the New Orleans Saints, signed to a one-year contract on Monday afternoon, adding another well-known player to the roster for former Saints head coach Sean Payton.
After joining the Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2021, Throckmorton made his way into the starting lineup right away, appearing in 14 of his 17 games during his rookie year. In 2022, Throckmorton would remain a backup for one more season before the organization traded him later in the offseason. Before being released, he played most of the previous season with the Carolina Panthers, starting seven of their nine games. He would play a reserve role with the Tennessee Titans for the remainder of the season.
Look for Throckmorton to fill in behind Quinn Meinerz and Ben Powers, Denver’s two strong guards, along the offensive line. Having an experienced player in the fold who is used to your system is usually beneficial. Hopefully, later this autumn, Throck will return to the Superdome.
