Three substitutes for Terell Thomas In light of departure links, Charlton Athletic should think about this summer.
The 28-year-old Thomas’s contract expires in late June, at which point he will become a free agent.
Here are three candidates they could think about asking to take his place:
Ed pivots
The 21-year-old Brighton and Hove Albion player has a ton of promise and, should Charlton be able to entice him to The Valley, he may be a valuable long-term acquisition. It seems unlikely that he will make the starting lineup at AMEX Stadium.
Turns, a Wales youth international, is presently gaining experience by going on loan to Crewe Alexandra in League Two. He previously spent two different stints with Leyton Orient, a League One team.
Andy Smith
He was given permission by Hull City to temporarily sign up with Cheltenham Town during the January transfer window. The center back’s summer return to MKM Stadium is scheduled, and the Tigers will need to decide what to do with him going forward.
If Thomas were to go out the exit door, the Addicks would have him as an alternative. The Banbury native has spent time at Salford City and Grimsby Town outside of East Yorkshire in order to further his career.
Jason Kerr
He has not yet signed a contract extension with Wigan Athletic, which expires at the conclusion of current season. As things stand, the Latics run the possibility of losing him for nothing at the end of June.
With everything hanging in the balance regarding his status at the DW Stadium, Charlton ought to move quickly to entice him south. The 27-year-old Scotsman is a capable third-tier player who is aware of the requirements to advance to the Championship.
