‘All you can ask’ – Charlton Athletic Boss Nathan Jones Hails Departing Key Star After

Following their draw with Wigan Athletic, Nathan Jones, the manager of Charlton Athletic, showered George Dobson with accolades.
Last night in League One, Charlton Athletic and the Latics drew 2-2 at home at The Valley.

With ten minutes remaining, Dobson, 26, provided the assist for Chuks Aneke’s goal to tie the score for the Addicks.

According to the official club website, Jones stated following the game, “He affects the football game.” I like him because of this. Because he moves around, slips in, and wins the ball, many assume he is an out-of-possession player. He is perceived by some as a defensive midfielder.

“He isn’t. He’s a better football player than most people realize. I’ve observed and acknowledged that. That’s all you could ask for from a midfielder—he’s had an impact on almost every football match he’s played for us.

Dobson’s contract with Charlton expires at the end of the current season, thus he is departing this summer.

He has signed a pre-contract with Fehervar in Hungary, and according to their website, he will formally join them on July 1.

He is a vital player for the Addicks in the center of the park, so losing him would be devastating.

Jones, who has managed Southampton, Stoke City, and Luton Town, is excited for the upcoming season and has done a fantastic job thus far.

But a new challenge overseas has shifted Dobson’s thinking.

After being signed by the Addicks in 2021, he has played 141 games across all competitions for them, 45 of which have been this season, and he has contributed five goals.

The Londoner had stints as a young player at West Ham and Arsenal. Since then, he has experienced playing abroad, having had stints in the Football League with Walsall and Sunderland in addition to a time with Sparta Rotterdam in Holland.

After battling back against Wigan, Charlton is still undefeated as they now sit in 14th place in the third tier rankings.

Before they can begin making plans for the summer, they have three more fixtures to complete. This weekend’s excursion to Cambridge United is the next destination.
