QPR center back Osman Kakay “looks set” to depart the team this summer, according to a West London Sport article.
The defender has dropped down the QPR hierarchy and hasn’t been picked since Boxing Day.

As things currently stand, Kakay, 26, will become a free agent in late June once his contract expires at the end of the season.

He “appears” to have already played his final game for the Championship team, according to West London Sport. Marti Cifuentes, the R’s manager, stated: “It’s nothing against Ozzie.” For a long time, I won’t be the one making judgments on his actions at the club. He has demonstrated that he is an extremely skilled player.

“But clearly, there is a lot of competition to make the squad at right full-back,” the player said.

In Kakay’s place, QPR has Jimmy Dunne, who has been playing there recently, as well as Reggie Cannon and Aaron Drewe.

The Westminster native has played 88 games for the Hoops in all competitions during his career, 25 of which have been during this current campaign, and he has contributed two goals to the cause.

He was a regular with the R’s at several youth levels and rose through their academy ranks.

As a young player, Kakay spent time on loan at Livingston, Chesterfield, and Partick Thistle to get some experience.

The 17-cap international from Sierra Leone made his first appearance in the first team at QPR in 2020, but under Cifuentes, he has not played as often.

For the first time, Kakay may benefit from severing relations with the Hoops permanently. He would be forced to step outside of his comfort zone, given the opportunity to establish roots somewhere and accrue more minutes.

In their most recent match, QPR and Plymouth Argyle tied 1-1 at Home Park as they attempt to stay in League One.

This weekend, they will return to action as they travel to the MKM Stadium on the road to play Hull City.
