Ashton United is implementing a series of challenges for its volunteers as part of a creative strategy to both retain and attract additional help.
Using its most recent funding from the Trident Community Foundation, the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division team has partnered with The Challenge Hub, allowing its 75 volunteers to take on social, educational, and athletic challenges.

As part of its endeavors to instill a sense of worth in its invaluable volunteers, the Robins recently organized a sponsored walk for their league meeting, which involved seven resilient individuals walking from Hurst Cross to Matlock

Despite the fact that the game was canceled due to inclement weather, vice-chairman Steve Hobson celebrated the beginning of an exciting sequence of events.

According to Hobson, “They raised £4,000 for our charity Ashton United in the Community.”

They started on Friday and traveled to Bakewell over the course of two days. The sky opened up and they experienced every type of weather imaginable as they set off. We were under the impression that we would need to go save them.

The game was canceled when they arrived in Matlock the next day. I’m really grateful to them for what they accomplished.

“We have 75 registered volunteers, and one of our top priorities is keeping them, taking care of them, and giving them a sense of specialization and value.”
