After earning his first start of the season, Reading FC defender said, “I’ve been waiting a long time.”
Kelvin Abrefa, a defender for Reading FC, thanked the fans following his first League One start of the year in the Royals’ draw with Barnsley.
The 20-year-old, who battled injury concerns for the majority of the season, was rewarded with his first league start, taking Andy Yiadom’s position in the lineup due to an injury.
Abrefa expressed her gratitude for the start, saying, “I’ve been waiting for this for a very long time.”
“I have been employed. This season, I’ve unexpectedly had a lot of injuries. I’m really appreciative that the gaffer gave me this chance since I’ve returned, been hurt again, and returned again.
“In my opinion, we’ve lost two points, but given the circumstances, we would have accepted it.”
In what has been a tumultuous season on and off the field, the Royals are safe from relegation after picking up another crucial point on the road.
