Barnsley is considering a 39-year-old coach to take Neill Collins’ post.

According to the Daily Record, Barnsley is examining Peter Leven, the interim manager of Aberdeen, as a possible contender for their open management position.
With just one game remaining in the normal League One season, Barnsley has decided to break ways with manager Neill Collins due to a late decline in performance.

The Tykes are now fifth in the rankings and, by only one point, are within the play-offs after five games without a win, including four losses. As the last day approaches, Lincoln City, Oxford United, and Blackpool may all sneak into the top six.

Although Martin Devaney has assumed temporary leadership at Oakwell, it is still unknown when Collins’ long-term successor as manager will step forward

While everything is still unclear, new reports have identified a possible possibility.

According to the Daily Record, Barnsley is interested in Peter Leven, the interim manager of Scottish Premiership team Aberdeen. In interim leadership positions at Pittodrie following the departures of Neil Warnock and Barry Robson, he has performed admirably.

Leven reportedly has aspirations to manage after holding assistant management positions at FK Orenburg, Dynamo Brest, Kilmarnock, and Aberdeen.

Appointing a new supervisor

Although Barnsley’s managerial position remains unclear, maybe clarity will soon come to light.

It will be interesting to watch if interim manager Devaney pushes the Tykes for a last promotion berth or if a swift search for a permanent replacement is made if they advance to the play-offs.

Regardless matter when they arrive, though, a permanent boss will be required. Barnsley will be hoping the new manager can take over and stay in the role for an extended period of time, since they have had a history of firing and replacing managers in previous seasons.

Leven could be a risk because he hasn’t before held the top spot. But he’s proven himself a capable leader when put in temporary command, so it would be worth exploring.

When Barnsley searches for a new manager to take them forward, they will undoubtedly have a long list of potential candidates in mind.
