“It won’t matter.” Glasgow Derby, according to Liam Scales, rests on Celtic’s own behavior.

Liam Scales, a defender for Celtic, surprised everyone by earning a spot in the starting lineup this season.

Rumors surfaced in the summer about the Republic of Ireland international maybe returning to Aberdeen, but Brendan Rodgers wasn’t eager to let his countryman go once he got back to Parkhead.

Scales has made 39 appearances for Celtic in all competitions since staying in Glasgow, with one goal and three assists [Transfermarkt].

Reports state that negotiations are underway to extend the 25-year-old’s contract at Parkhead; however, neither party has yet to come to a decision, and his present contract expires in the summer of 2025.

Talk about his future will probably be put on hold for the time being as the former Shamrock Rovers defender looks to round up his stellar season with a Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup double.

Dundee this weekend for the first of five post-split games.

That includes the May 11th powderkeg Glasgow Derby between Celtic and Rangers, which will get the majority of attention in the coming weeks.

Liam Scales gives a sneak peek at Celtic’s Glasgow Derby.
Scales has three games left this season versus Rangers and has yet to experience a loss, so he isn’t too worried about taking on Philippe Clement’s team the next month.

The Irishman, who was speaking to The Scottish Sun, cautioned that there are four other teams in the top six in the Scottish Premiership that would be as challenging to go past in the final stretch.

“That is 100% the case,” he clarified. It goes beyond that particular game.

There’s a reason each of these clubs is ranked in the top six. They are the league’s best teams and are usually in good form. Each and every game will be extremely difficult.

This weekend we have a tough game against Dundee, and we won’t be focusing on anything else. Our next game is against Rangers, and no matter how we do in that one, it won’t matter if we don’t win the two games before.

“That is our main area of concentration.”

Celtic is aware of what has to be done over the next few weeks to win the title, but they still need to strengthen their defense, which was exposed against Aberdeen last weekend when Rodgers’ backline appeared vulnerable.

In any case, Scales and associates won’t be taking anything for granted as they plan a triumphant campaign finale, which is encouraging for our chances of taking home the hardware.
