Mathias Kvistgaarden has been linked to Celtic for the last two transfer windows, but the deal might finally materialize this summer as Brondby manager Jesper Sorensen said a departure may be imminent. The Danish striker has helped his team win the Superliga championship this season with 10 goals and seven assists, but he hasn’t played since suffering a knee injury during a 2-1 victory against FC Copenhagen at the beginning of the month. When asked if the £4 million Celtic target may have played his final game for the team, Sorensen said, “with a smile on his face,” indicating that he is unlikely to play again this season. According to sources in Turkey, Trabszonspor is getting closer to signing John Lundstram and Borna Barisic from the Rangers. The Ibrox duo’s contracts expire at the conclusion of the current campaign, but manager Philippe Clement has said in the past that he intends to negotiate a new deal with Lundstram. The Croatian international is scheduled to conclude his six-year tenure at Rangers this summer, but according to Turkish publication Fanatik, negotiations to bring him in have already achieved a “happy ending”. Additionally, they state that Lundstram, 30, has rejected the first contract offer given to stay at Ibrox and that the Super League team is attempting to come to a “agreement in principle” with him.
Hibs notices a new appointment
A report claims that Hibs are considering hiring a new technical director this summer. Following a £6 million investment by Bournemouth owner Bill Foley to acquire a partial stake in the Easter Road club, the Leith side is reviewing every aspect of their football operations. After the “unacceptable” failure to seal a spot in the Premiership’s top six, manager Nick Montgomery is under pressure to improve outcomes between now and the end of the season. The Edinburgh Evening News reports that club executives are considering candidates for the new general job, which would be modeled after Bournemouth’s present structure, including Brian McDermott, director of football. With two board seats, Foley’s Black Knight group hopes to safeguard their investment by having a significant impact on the football department’s operations.
