“Absolutely bonkers!” Alan Shearer gives a summer warning to Newcastle United.

Alan Shearer has encouraged Newcastle United to reject all summer proposals for Alexander Isak, stating that selling a player of his caliber would be “absolutely bonkers”.

Speaking to Gary Lineker and Micah Richards on the current The Rest Is Football Podcast, our former No. 9 praised the Swede as “one of the best” attackers on the globe, praising his movement, pace, intellect, and skill after his recent brace on Saturday brought him to 23 goals for the season.

When asked by Lineker about Isak’s progress and the possibility of a big-money departure this summer, Shearer said he is “worth an absolute fortune” and the type of player who doesn’t come around frequently, encouraging Newcastle to safeguard their “great asset” that is nearly difficult to replicate.

“He’s pretty good. “He is a modern-day forward.” Shearer stated. “He’s an excellent illustration of that. He’s had one or two injuries this season, but when he’s on the field, he’s been absolutely fantastic. He’s fantastic at running in behind because he’s so quick, and once he’s gone, you can’t catch him.

“He’s also very good at coming short and bringing opponents in with him, leaving space in behind. He’s a highly bright, cerebral player with exceptional talent. They are sitting on a big asset. It would be insane if Newcastle, for whatever reason, sold him in the summer.

“He’s worth a fortune, and it would be crazy if Newcastle sold him this summer. It’s quite tough to find goal scorers, and he is one of the greatest. They love him, and rightfully so. “The fans adore him.”

Thankfully, I don’t think we have anything to worry about with Alexander Isak this summer. There is no release clause in his contract, he still has four years left, he has lately indicated how happy and dedicated he is to the club, and, as Shearer implies, our owners will understand that forwards of his caliber are like gold dust.
