Fans’ Reactions To Giancarlo Stanton’s Brutal Baserunning Moment
Giancarlo Stanton, the New York Yankees’ slugger, gave his detractors ammo during his team’s Monday game against the Baltimore Orioles.
The Orioles lead the Yankees 1-0 in the top of the sixth inning at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland.
Stanton was at first base, with Yankees catcher Austin Wells at the plate. Wells hit a bloop single into right field
Stanton had to hold up to guarantee that the ball passed over the glove of Orioles shortstop Jordan Westburg. But the slow-rolling ball gave Stanton plenty of time to reach second base.
Spoiler: Stanton did not arrive in time to avert a force-out.
Fans on X mocked Stanton for his poor baserunning. Some even compared him to a real slug.
