Georgia lands quarterback Jaden Rashada via transfer portal: What it means for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs
Former Arizona State quarterback Jaden Rashada is set to commit to Georgia after completing his tour to Athens. Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs now have a quarterback of the future in place of returning starter Carson Beck, who is expected to be drafted first overall in 2025. After Rashada entered the NCAA transfer portal, Georgia was the first school on his radar.
Rashada signed with Florida as one of the best quarterback prospects for 2023, however due to a NIL glitch, he was released from his LOI and transferred to Arizona State.
Rashada appeared in three games as a freshman for the Sun Devils last season and kept his redshirt, so Georgia could get a complete career out of him. The situation is comparable to Oregon obtaining two quarterbacks this portal cycle, with Oklahoma’s Dillon Gabriel serving as the Ducks’ 2024 starter and a bridge to UCLA’s Dante Moore next spring.

Moore elected to play QB2 behind Gabriel at Oregon this spring, and Rashada will get an opportunity to battle with Georgia’s Gunner Stockton for the job between the hedges this autumn. Rashada’s decision makes a lot of sense given her remaining four years of eligibility.
