Charlton Athletic confirm the release of former Huddersfield Town and Bradford City playmaker.
Jack Payne, the former Huddersfield Town and Bradford City playmaker, will leave Charlton Athletic when his contract ends this summer.
The 29-year-old is still on Charlton’s books, but is now on loan at Milton Keynes Dons, training for the League Two play-offs. He has been a regular under Mike Williamson this season, making 42 appearances and scoring seven goals.
If they desire, MK Dons may be able to make his transfer permanent this summer. Charlton has stated that he will leave The Valley this summer after two years with the club.
He was signed by the Addicks in 2022 following a successful season in League Two with Swindon Town. He is well-known among Huddersfield supporters, having played for the Terriers from 2016 to 2019.

Payne appeared in 28 Terriers games and scored four goals before being released. His last season at Huddersfield was spent on loan at Bradford, where he scored nine goals and provided seven assists in 47 appearances.
Nathan Jones has taken over as manager of Charlton, having previously said that he intends to overhaul the club. Payne was freed alongside a number of other top individuals, including Connor Wickham, Michael Hector, and Kazenga LuaLua.
In a retained list statement, Charlton said: “Everyone at the club would like to thank every player who is leaving for their efforts during their time at Charlton and wish them the very best of luck in the future.”
