Former Barnsley, Rotherham United, and Bradford City player takes on management post.

Former Bradford City manager Nicky Law has returned to management to take over Matlock Town.

Matlock have been without a manager since March, when former Hull City attacker Martin Carruthers resigned. The season finished with a caretaker team in control, but Law has since been brought in to take over.

He was most recently Burnley’s recruitment head, although he has extensive managerial expertise. He spent a decade at Alfreton Town and previously led Bradford City in the EFL.

He played for clubs like as Barnsley and Rotherham United before retiring in 1997. He will take command of a Matlock team hoping to improve on their 15th-place finish in the Northern Premier League Premier Division next season.

Law stated, “I’m delighted to be manager of a well-established club in Matlock; I find the community aspect and close relationship with the fans very refreshing, and it really impressed me.” I need to chat with the guys who are currently here, but we need to improve from last year and strive to assemble a group that can compete at a higher level.

“In the medium to long term, we need to produce a younger group that is not only sustainable for the club but also capable of competing for accolades. People discuss styles of play, but the primary goal must be to win football games; the more you win, the better off you are.

“I’ll be searching for guys that consistently give their all. Honesty is important to me; people come and spend their hard-earned money, and they want the players to give their all. For the time being, I’ll focus on what we have, who stays and who departs. Making difficult decisions is an important part of management.
