Former NFL wide receiver reveals that he is open to joining the Miami Heat.
Former NFL wide receiver says Kevin Durant told him he is open to joining the Miami Heat.

Kevin Durant is allegedly open to leaving the Phoenix Suns and joining the Miami Heat.

Former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson spoke on ‘Club Shay Shay’ about Kevin Durant’s prospective interest in the Miami Heat. According to Johnson, he spoke with the two-time champion, who assured him that he would not oppose to a trade with the Heat if it made sense for both parties.

“I spoke with KD; we had a lengthy conversation,” Johnson stated. “I’m not a basketball fan, but individuals like Durant, LeBron, and some of the other players I know confided in me, and I asked if it was acceptable to discuss it. He stated that he would gladly come down to Miami if it made sense.

After a disappointing season with the Suns, many believe Kevin Durant may contemplate a change of scenery for the fourth time in his career. Despite expressly requesting for a trade to the Suns, Durant has had little success there, winning only one playoff series since 2023

At 35 years old, the 14-time All-Star has little time left in his NBA career, and he doesn’t want to spend it in a position where he can’t compete.

Durant is under contract with the Suns until the 2025-26 season, so he cannot leave this summer or anytime soon. It will take some significant theatrics on his behalf to force the Suns’ hand and place him in a predicament similar to the Heat.

While far from flawless, Erik Spoelstra and colleagues have already shown confidence in utilizing Durant’s skill set, and there’s no reason they can’t do so again if he eventually makes it there after all these years.

Durant, alongside Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, would be in a strong position to win his third title. But, having committed his future to the Suns, he cannot quit so lightly, and team president Mat Ishbia will not allow his sacrifice from last season to be in naught.

The Phoenix Suns Are in Denial
The Suns gave up almost everything to build this group. With a “big three” of Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Kevin Durant, the Suns were optimistic that their efforts would finally pay off with their first NBA title.

However, after losing to the Nuggets in the second round last year and being swept by the Timberwolves this year, the Suns are currently in a state of uncertainty, as fans and pundits try to figure out how they might turn things around.

The worst thing is that team governor Mat Ishbia appears to be in utter denial about the issue, insisting to this day that the Suns are a source of envy for at least 26 clubs. With such statements, the Suns appear more inclined to run it back than to give up Durant in any deal.

Kevin has no option except to accept his fate and do his best to navigate through the confusion and doubt. With him and Booker, there is yet hope for a brighter future. However, if things do not improve for the Suns next season, the scenario might turn toxic for everyone concerned, and Ishbia may be forced to take dramatic measures to salvage his status.
