Newcastle closing in on a double deal? – Fabrizio Romano explains what he has heard following meetings.
Fabrizio Romano believes Newcastle’s approach for Lloyd Kelly will “advance really fast” in the coming weeks, with the club also “really pushing” to sign Tosin Adarabioyo ahead of Premier League opponents.
According to the transfer expert, Kelly is a “top target” for Newcastle and a player the club is “really confident” of landing as the versatile left-sided defender prepares to leave Bournemouth for free.
In terms of Adarabioyo, another out-of-contract centre-back, Romano says discussions to sign the 26-year-old are “still ongoing”. Chelsea and Manchester United remain in the running, but Howe is a great fan of the player and wants to sign both.
On the Here We Go podcast, he discussed both moves, saying: “Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth is the prime target, and Newcastle are quite sure that it will happen. Kelly and Newcastle, we expect the agreement to go quickly in the next weeks,” Romano added.
“They’re still working on Tosin Adarabioyo. Chelsea has also inquired about him, and Manchester United has been apprised of the issue, but Newcastle is making a strong push. Eddie Howe values the player, therefore Newcastle might sign both center backs.
“From what I’m hearing Kelly is really advanced and negotiations with Tosin Adarabioyo are still ongoing.”

Yesterday, The Mail’s Craig Hope stated that Tosin was ‘leaning towards’ a transfer to Newcastle following negotiations and guarantees about his place in the squad, while others said that our offer for the defender is quite strong.
Romano appears to think Kelly is getting closer, and other sources say we are the frontrunners for Tosin. Fingers crossed, as they would be two wise decisions at the start of a hectic summer, allowing us to shore up our injury-ravaged defense without spending a lot.
