Green Bay Packers: News About 26-Year-Old Starter Is Going Viral (Report).

The Green Bay Packers are in the process of rebuilding their defense. The draft was mainly centered on defense, and the free agent addition of Xavier McKinney was huge.

Now, information on one of their rising defensive stars has surfaced.

The Green Bay Packers Receive Exciting News About 26-Year-Old Starter.

According to Pete Dougherty from PackersNews:

The Green Bay Packers’ transition from a 3-4 defensive scheme to a 4-3 implies a substantial adjustment for everyone on that side of the ball, but the largest change may be for their defensive line.

The Packers are transitioning from former coach Joe Barry’s two-gap strategy, in which the line was typically responsible for holding up offensive linemen, to a more aggressive front operated by multiple NFL clubs using the same philosophy, most notably San Francisco, Houston, and the New York Jets.

“It’s about (tackles for loss) and sacks,” Packers defensive line coach Jason Rebrovich said of the new system. “We’re going to try to cause chaos in the backfield; every down, we want to penetrate and do something huge. Offensive linemen will have to stay on the line of scrimmage for a little longer because of the moves and our ability to get in the backfield.

Rebrovich was one of four Packers defensive assistant coaches who held their first offseason press conferences on Thursday, around 1½ weeks before the start of organized team activities sessions.

Devonte Wyatt, a first-round choice in the 2022 draft, is one of the lineman who the Packers believe would benefit the most from the new defensive plan.

“He’s quick, fast, and athletic,” Rebrovich explained. “So you’ll have to build stuff around him to employ those abilities. What a fantastic chance for him and us. That’s the mindset that we’re attempting to develop: the mindset of getting in the backfield, and he executes every one of them, checking all the boxes.”

The Packers’ defensive line will have a lot to look forward to in 2024.

When you watch the 49ers defense, it’s clear that they have a lot of skill. But, stylistically, it is what they want to seem like. Another aspect of this procedure is having a player who understands the system and its defensive logic.

Dream draft target to pair with Xavier McKinney emerges for Packers

“When you’re trying to generate something in the backfield, you have to have the entire team swarm to make the play. “It can’t just be one guy making the tackle,” Rebrovich explained. “So, you’ve got to make sure that while you’re establishing a new line of scrimmage or working to get into the backfield, there are other players who will converge. You can’t simply sit there and watch one person attempt to make a play.

Jeff Hafley, the 49ers’ defensive coordinator, was a defensive backs coach from 2016 to 2018, the latter two years under head coach Kyle Shanahan. Because of that inspiration, he has already implemented a significant shift, and the Packers will play a 4-3 basic defense for the first time since 2008.
