Where will former Texas cornerback Terrance Brooks take his skills next?
Terrance Brooks, junior cornerback, was the most high-profile transfer from the Texas football program during the spring portal session. Brooks, a third-year cornerback, was the only Texas player who made double-digit starts last season and entered the portal this summer.
Terrance Brooks, a former Texas football cornerback, has numerous alternatives for P5 landing sites in the portal.
Brooks started 16 games and appeared in 23 over two years at Texas. He has 29 combined tackles, three interceptions, nine pass breakups, and six defensive stops since 2022.
Brooks played 775 defensive snaps over the previous two seasons, more than any other Texas cornerback.
Brooks, a former high-four-star prospect with multiple years of eligibility remaining, was one of the most sought-after cornerbacks in the marketplace late this spring. That’s not to add his many years of starting experience at a major Power Five institution in Texas
Since entering the transfer portal on April 23, Brooks has been approached by more than two dozen FBS colleges. The No. 11 transfer cornerback in the 247Sports Composite should have plenty of alternatives for his next landing destination outside of the portal come next season.
Here are three potential transfer destinations for Brooks this summer.
Oregon
Brooks told On3’s Hayes Fawcett that the Oregon Ducks were one of 27 institutions to approach him through the portal. Oregon has been aggressive throughout the winter in recruiting impact players through the transfer portal.
To replace 20 leaving transfers and many departed starters on both sides of the ball, head coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks signed 14 portal players this summer.
Oregon is still hoping to add depth and another proven cornerback to the secondary later this spring. The Ducks have already signed former Washington Huskies senior cornerback Jabbar Muhammad and former Louisville Cardinals senior Kam Alexander via the portal.
Oregon would provide Brooks the opportunity to compete for a Power Five conference title and a position in the 12-team College Football Playoff beginning in 2024.
