Suspicion Nottingham Forest is using ropes to avoid paying €11 million for signing – Still have a chance to get a player on a discount deal.

Gonzalo Montiel’s future at Nottingham Forest has been called into question in recent weeks, according to numerous reports.

Last summer, the Argentina international joined Nottingham Forest on loan from Sevilla, with the option to buy provided certain criteria are satisfied.

According to Vamos Mi Sevilla FC, the Reds must pay €11 million to the La Liga club if the right-back is to play in at least half of their games this season.

The 27-year-old has played 1,069 minutes over 18 games, including 13 league appearances for Nottingham Forest this season.

Montiel first played for the Premier League club before being benched or left out of the squad by Steve Cooper. After being replaced by Nuno Espírito Santo in December, the World Cup winner returned to play frequently until February.

He was benched again between February and April, but has returned to the field in the Reds’ past three league games.
According to the article, Sevilla’suspect that a black hand may have pulled a thread’, implying that Nottingham Forest chose not to play him in order to avoid fulfilling their €11 million purchase requirement.

Montiel is set to return to Sevilla, where he is expected to be sold for roughly €4-5 million during the summer transfer window. If Nottingham Forest want to keep him, they may get him for a low price.

Earlier last month, La Nacion reported that River Plate sees Montiel as a market possibility after their former star signaled a potential departure.
