Leicester City, Middlesbrough, and Luton Town are interested in a 24-year-old top midfielder

According to Fotbolldirekt, Leicester City and Middlesbrough are interested in signing Elfsborg midfielder Michael Baidoo.
Leicester City and Middlesbrough might attempt to sign the former Ghana youth international this summer ahead of next season. Hull City and Luton Town have also been named as prospective suitors ahead of the forthcoming transfer season.

Baidoo, 25, has been a vital player for Elfsborg since signing in 2022, and the club may have a struggle to maintain him in the coming months due to interest from abroad. His contract expires in June 2025, so they are not under any hurry to cash in on him just yet until the appropriate offer comes in.

According to Fotbolldirekt, he has piqued the interest of Championship clubs as well as certain unidentified teams in America, Holland, Belgium, and Germany, despite his current status being uncertain.

Baidoo began his career in Ghana with Vision as a kid before traveling to Denmark to join the Midtjylland academy.

He worked his way up the ranks of the Danish Superliga club, playing once for their first squad as a youngster and going on loan to FC Fredericia and Jerv to gain experience.

In 2020, the latter signed him on a permanent basis, and he played with them until moving on to Sandnes Ulf.

Baidoo has subsequently made 65 appearances for Elfsborg in all competitions, scoring 17 goals and assisting 11 times.

Leicester City may consider him as a potential addition to their Premier League squad after promotion.

The Foxes may not be able to provide him with as much playing time as a club in the second division owing to competition for a position in their team.

Middlesbrough and Hull City will both strive for the top six again next year, having lost out on the play-offs this season. The latter are looking for a new leader after parting ways with Liam Rosenior.

Luton Town have been demoted from the Premier League after only a year and face a difficult few months as they attempt to bolster their team under Rob Edwards’ leadership.
