Brendan Rodgers praised Dermot Desmond and the Celtic board for foreseeing that his return to the club would benefit all parties.

Rodgers was appointed after the highly regarded Ange Postecoglou left for Tottenham Hotspur. Given the circumstances of his first 2019 exit and the reaction to it at the time, it was a risky move.

After a challenging season in the English Premier League, the former Liverpool and Leicester City manager wanted to take a break from the game.

However, the Celtic executive team persuaded him that returning to Scotland was the best option for him and the club.

He is grateful for the opportunity to bring Celtic victory again.

Brendan Rodgers “loves” working with Celtic right now.
When asked how difficult it has been to overcome hurdles this season, Rodgers responded at a media conference: “It’s a problem that exists. I believe I drive up here to work every morning with a sense of excitement. I like my career as a professional manager. I genuinely like working with this bunch of guys and the Celtic staff.

“I’ve had constant support throughout the season. I’m eternally grateful to Dermot Desmond for bringing me back. It was a daring choice on his and the board’s part to bring me back, knowing that no matter how successful I was, it may not be universally appreciated. They had the vision and insight to persuade me to return, and I am so pleased I did.

“You then have to cope with issues such as criticism. It’s all worthwhile. I wouldn’t alter anything because going through what I’ve been through this season has made me a better coach and manager. I’m confident that we’ll come back larger and stronger next season.”Brendan Rodgers hails Dermot Desmond for his “brave decision” at Celtic after the ban was reviewed

Dermot Desmond is seen prior to the Celtic vs St Mirren Cinch Premiership match at Celtic Park on May 20, 2023 in Glasgow, Scotland.

A united Celtic must now deliver the club’s genuine potential.
When Rodgers returned last summer, many expected him to swiftly lift a surging Celtic to new heights. Celtic were in a position of power after winning three titles and having vast resources.

His first season back in Glasgow was more tough than expected. There are several widely discussed reasons for this, including injuries, the ‘awkwardness’ of returning, bad transfers, and so on. But it is all behind Celtic.

Now that everything is moving forward with a positive attitude and some momentum, it’s time for the Bhoys to capitalize. A solid summer transfer window, with an ambitious investment, would position the team for future domestic and international competitiveness.

A fresh look. The UEFA Champions League provides additional opportunities for Celtic to flourish, and it’s evident we can’t rest on our laurels in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic celebrated a gratifying title triumph this week, but there is much more to come, and everyone must contribute, from the board to the manager, players, and supporters.

As the team prepares for a busy summer transfer window, Brendan Rodgers insists everyone at Celtic will be on the same page about their aspirations for the upcoming season.

Celtic players, staff, and supporters are all relishing the aftermath of Wednesday night’s Scottish Premiership title victory, but as we all know, the pursuit of success never ends.
