QPR goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has emerged as a potential transfer target for his former club AFC Bournemouth, according to reporter Alan Nixon on his Patreon.
QPR have a decision to make regarding the long-term future of the veteran stopper this summer as they prepare for another season in the Championship. They swooped to land him last year on a 12-month deal and he was their number one in this past campaign.

Begovic, 36, was brought in to replace Seny Dieng after he left for Middlesbrough and he has since made 46 appearances in all competitions for the London club. However, his contract expires at the end of next month and he is yet to pen an extension meaning he is due to become a free agent as things stand.

In this latest update regarding his future by journalist Nixon on Patreon, Bournemouth could look to lure him back to Dorset to bolster their goalkeeping ranks. He was linked with Celtic in late April by talkSPORT.

Begovic is vastly experienced and is a useful player to have in the dressing room.

However, it remains to be seen whether he will be QPR’s first choice next term and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Marti Cifuentes bring in a younger option.

Therefore, cutting ties with the ex-Bosnia and Herzegovina international may be a shrewd move by the Hoops as it would free up space and funds in their ranks to bring in other reinforcements to bolster their squad.
