Latest News Today Rotherham United are delighted to confirm the signing of another star, as reported now.

Rotherham United are thrilled to announce the acquisition of defender Sean Raggett, who will join the club after his contract with Portsmouth expires this summer, subject to EFL and FA approval.

The 30-year-old defender comes to South Yorkshire after helping Portsmouth win the Sky Bet League One championship last season, making 44 appearances in all competitions in 2023/24.

Raggett, who spent a brief loan spell at AESSEAL New York Stadium in the 2018/19 season, enters as the Millers’ sixth summer acquisition, after further quick business from manager Steve Evans, who has immediately locked him down to a two-year contract.

He joins his old Portsmouth colleague Joe Rafferty in making the trip north, with the two playing key roles in one of the division’s meanest defences in the third tier, which won the title.

The defender progressed through the ranks at Dover before joining Lincoln City in 2016. It was with the Imps that he famously scored a late FA Cup winner against Premier League side Burnley at Turf Moor, ensuring his team became the first non-league side to reach the competition’s quarterfinals in 103 years.

His success at Sincil Bank drew the attention of many fans, and Norwich City lured him away, completing a money transfer in 2017. During his time at Carrow Road, he went on loan to Lincoln, the Millers, and Portsmouth before joining the latter permanently in 2020 and spending four years on the South Coast.

Sean’s reaction will be available to view later today at www.themillers.co.uk.
