Goal is to reach an agreement with Dunfermline defender Charlton Athletic

Josh Edwards, a defender for Dunfermline, is someone Charlton Athletic hopes to sign soon.

According to a Scottish story, the 23-year-old was the subject of a six-figure proposal, although that was inaccurate in terms of both the amount offered and the fact that it had not been rejected.

According to sources close to the South London Press, Charlton plans to try to work out a deal for Edwards by this coming Friday.

Edwards’s contract with Dunfermline is set to expire in one year.

Additionally, talks are on between the League One team and Luke Berry, who is leaving Luton Town.

Nathan Jones, the manager of Charlton, has stated that he wants the majority of the club’s transfer business finished before his team resumes preseason practice.

Thierry Small’s contract has an option that the Addicks have already exercised to keep the former Southampton and Everton defender through the summer of 2023.

Although he can play in left midfield as well, Edwards plays in the same position as Small.

In 36 games during the previous season, he recorded three goals and eight assists in the Scottish Championship.

Edwards was formerly signed by Airdrieonians and made 39 appearances for them. He has appeared in 182 games for Dunfermline.

During the January transfer window, Barnsley’s offer for Edwards was turned down.

Speaking at the time, James McPake, the manager of Dunfermline, stated: “The club knocked that back for what Josh is worth to us and what he can do.” It also demonstrates their genuine aim.

Because of the work Josh provides for the team, it was crucial to have him around. It is inevitable for him to sustain an injury in football, but it is extremely difficult to find a guy with his caliber of play.

There aren’t many players that can play left wing or left wing-back like him.

“It was critical that we retained him. He’s performing at an extremely high level.

“I’ve told him that things will work out for him.

“He’s doing everything right, so if he keeps doing what he’s doing for us, he’ll go on to have an amazing career.

He is taking good care of himself, working hard, and exercising appropriately.

Although we are happy to have him, he will deserve whatever the football gods have in store for him.
