Gibson, who was born in Birmingham, progressed through the Rangers system before signing for Bradford at the age of 19.

After three years at City, Gibson had time in the League of Ireland with St Patrick’s Athletic and Sligo Rovers before joining Carlisle in August 2021.

Grant McCann, the manager of the Cumbrians, said of Gibson, who played in over 140 games, “I think he will excite the fans.” He can score and set up goals, is extremely direct, and loves to get at people.

His confident demeanor and swagger are appealing to me. He seems like a really wise addition to our team.
