Mason Rees, a midfield player for Wolves, is available for signing with Brentford, sources have told Football Insider.

The 18-year-old has been advised by Wolves that he is free to sign with another team this summer, as Football Insider first reported earlier this month.

Rees only committed to the West Midlands club in August, when he signed a two-year contract that would extend until 2025.

The central midfielder has been advised by Wolves that he may leave Molineux when the transfer market reopens the following month. Brentford is reportedly in discussions to sign him and move him to west London.

With Gary O’Neil’s team, the teenager’s progress has been obstructed by two newcomers from Premier League winners Manchester City.

Tommy Doyle, a midfielder for the Citizens, decided to make the move permanent and signed a £4.3 million contract with Wanderers.

Mason Rees is set to leave Wolves following their negotiations with Brentford.

When Wolves gave Rees a contract barely nine months ago, they thought he was a potential talent for the future.

The midfielder, who was born in Solihull, made 11 appearances in Premier League 2 throughout the season. In November of last year, he assisted the U-21 team in their EFL Trophy loss to Derby County.

However, the teenager is now expected to leave Molineux as Brentford plans to bring him into the summer squad.

Wanderers are now operating on a very limited budget, carefully treading the line of financial fair play to avoid facing any potential fines.

O’Neil will probably have to let go of at least one of his best players this summer. On May 17, Football Insider said that Wolves would need to sell Pedro Neto, Max Kilman, Joao Gomes, or Rayan Ait-Nouri in order to cover their expenses.

In other news, many Wolves talents are expected to be signed by West Ham.
