Rotherham United is vying for a spot in League One after making a big-time move to sign Coventry City star
After his contract expires, Liam Kelly will be leaving Coventry City, and Rotherham is leading three League One teams in the chase to recruit him.

According to the Rotherham Advertiser, Coventry City captain Liam Kelly is being pursued by Steve Evans’ Rotherham United, although two other third-tier opponents are also interested in the 34-year-old.
The Millers have landed six signings before the market begins on June 14 thanks to their active transfer transactions thus far.
The most recent addition to United was Joe Powell, who joined Evans’ team after his four-year contract at Burton Albion expired.
With obvious interest in Kelly, Rotherham United’s transfer window is starting to open up, and the team is expected to have another thrilling season.

Kelly played for Mark Robins’ Coventry City team for seven seasons, totaling over 180 games. However, they announced earlier this month that the midfielder will not be receiving a new contract, meaning his stint with the team is coming to an end
This has given Kelly a fresh opportunity, as the Yorkshire club is reportedly interested in hiring him for the 2024–25 campaign, according to a report from the Rotherham Advertiser.
This acquisition would be consistent with their previous signings, which have primarily included seasoned players at the League One or higher level.
They will, however, have to compete with other teams for his signing since, according to the source, Kelly is also being pursued by unidentified League One opponents.
This would suggest that, with one month remaining on his contract, Kelly will probably be moving in a different direction shortly and that Rotherham would need to fend off interest from sides who have similar goals to their own.

He had stints with Bristol City, Oldham Athletic, and Leyton Orient before settling down in 2017 and becoming a mainstay at Coventry City.

Although Coventry has only made 68 appearances in the four seasons since then, he came dangerously near to helping them win the Premier League last season.
Kelly led his team through every minute of the 2022–2023 playoffs, but a penalty shootout cruelly denied him and the Sky Blues access to the top division. It also prevented Kelly from accomplishing the amazing achievement of playing for the Midlands club in all four professional divisions of English football.
