Luka Doncic addresses the rumored dispute with Kristaps Porzingis.

Handler Parsons sparked controversy this week when he said that Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis did not get along as teammates, but they were unaware of the situation.

It’s important mentioning that Parsons didn’t play alongside Doncic or Porzingis while he was with the Dallas Mavericks from 2014 to 2016. ESPN’s Tim McMahon did emphasize discord at that period, but the connection between the two players was more of a footnote than a headline in his piece.

The Boston Celtics player said Tuesday that it was not on his mind as he prepared for Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday. He has been contemplative about his time in Dallas, admitting that he was not mature enough to deal with what was happening on the club.

Doncic was more forthright when questioned about the Parsons rumor.

The story continues below this advertisement.

“You see that’s why I don’t watch a lot of that because people don’t know,” Doncic told reporters, according to Mike Curtis of the Dallas Morning News. “I’ve maybe spoken with Chandler Parsons twice in my life. I’m not sure how he would know that. I and (Porzingis) have an excellent friendship. “I’m not sure why people say otherwise.”

Porzingis has been booed by supporters of former clubs, but the most vocal critics have been New York Knicks fans. That is not to suggest that the 28-year-old will not face a cold welcome in Dallas during the NBA Finals; it simply may not be for the reasons mentioned by Parsons.
