Crystal Palace player to join Bradford City instead of AFC Wimbledon
According to the Daily Record, AFC Wimbledon are unlikely to sign Crystal Palace defender Kofi Balmer to join Motherwell.
This summer, AFC Wimbledon has shown an interest in signing the centre-back permanently.
He spent the second part of the season with the League Two club after joining in January, making 17 appearances in all competitions under Johnnie Jackson as they ended 10th in the standings, five points behind the play-offs.
Balmer, 23, has been given the green light to leave Crystal Palace in the forthcoming transfer window to explore a fresh chance elsewhere.
According to the Daily Record, Motherwell are likely to outbid the Dons to bring him to Scotland to improve their defensive department. St Mirren have also expressed interest in signing him recently.
AFC Wimbledon to miss out.
AFC Wimbledon will have to explore elsewhere for defensive targets over the next few months.
They swooped for Balmer this winter, and he proved to be a reliable alternative in the back.
He still has a year remaining on his contract with Crystal Palace, but he is well down the Premier League hierarchy, and parting ways with him frees up room in their roster.
The Northern Irishman went to England in 2022 when the Eagles swooped in get him, but he has yet to make a first-team appearance for his parent club.
He was loaned to Port Vale last year to get League One experience before signing with the Dons.

They have released Quaine Bartley, Marcel Campbell, Josh Hallard, Paul Kalambayi, Ben Mason, Alex Pearce, Harry Pell, Zach Robinson, and Nik Tzanev, while winger Ronan Curtis has joined rival fourth-tier club Port Vale.
