The 22-year-old Brentford top star is interested in a £50 million transfer to Chelsea, and the Blues are not concerned about the cost.
Journalist Pete O’Rourke reports Ivan Toney is eager to join Chelsea.
Ivan Toney is open to joining Chelsea, who are looking for a centre-forward in the forthcoming transfer window. The Blues’ top aim is to acquire a dependable No. 9 who can help Nicolas Jackson grow.
Pete O’Rourke, speaking on the current episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, said that Chelsea regards the England international as an attainable acquisition and might make a play for him in the summer.
The Bees are preparing to seek £50 million for their star striker, who returned to play in January after missing the first part of the season owing to betting and breaking Premier League rules. As a result, the 28-year-old received an eight-month suspension.
Toney matches the characteristics of the striker Chelsea is searching for: someone who is merciless in front of goal. Furthermore, he has Premier League experience and the potential to influence the team’s performance in front of goal. Cole Palmer, Christopher Nkunku, and Enzo Fernandez will aid Toney.
He has strong punching skills and superb boxing awareness. He is also big and a bully for defenders, which is exactly what Chelsea wants from a centre-forward next season. However, the forward finished the previous season with only four league goals, raising worries about Toney’s potential to remain the Blues’ No. 9.
Brentford was struggling, and Toney’s arrival had no influence. This may have reduced his market value, and the Blues will move forward for a reasonable cost considering that few other teams appear to be interested in signing him. As a result, the Blues have a great opportunity to capitalize on his signing given that they are unlikely to pursue Victor Osimhen.
